OCTOBER

okay, here's some music!

this bamboos track has been stuck in my head for a few days. catchy riff. i stumbled across this bonobo tune on some compilation album a few weeks back; it's not 100% as polished as some of the stuff he's put on his albums, but the tune's pretty good. i'm seeing broken social scene tonight at what they claim is basically their final farewell show before they go on an indefinite hiatus, and this is a song of theirs that's really good - the guitar solos in particular are really solid.

karl denson plays some solid funk, he's been in like a million bands, and i'm pretty sure he's been on himom a couple times already by now. this other bonobo tune is one of my favorites off of his "black sands" album; i figured i could have two bonobo songs in one issue since the first song doesn't really count, it's more of a B-sides thing. been listening to lusine a lot lately, just found him a month ago, does great electronic stuff, kind of reminds me of telefon tel aviv.

been listening to bibio a lot lately, he came out with a new album a couple months back and "saint christopher" is one of my favorites off of it. american analog set have been drifting in and out of my playlists for years now; i just found this particular track yesterday, i think, and i like it a lot. those guys were pretty prolific, i guess. mice parade is really solid, i first started listening to him the summer i worked at anchor intelligence, around the same time i found dosh. he also came out with another album recently, and this is my favorite track off of it; i really like the atmosphere it creates.

this sufjan song is pretty good. it's pretty simple. i think i first heard it when we went to japan that one time.

about

every month, i'll put up a new mixtape on the right side of this inter net site, and some words having to do with that mixtape will run down the left side. some tapes will have more or fewer songs than others, and sometimes tapes will have themes. i hope that the one thing that they will all have in common will be that they are all made of good music, and that my mom and anyone else who cares to listen to them will find new music that they like by listening to these things.

which reminds me: this site is a birthday present for my mom. because, in the words of a wise otter, my mom should always get presents because she is my mom. for the technically inclined: this site is powered by php, duct tape, sheer force of concentration, and a modified version of opentape.

my name is jrheard.
