MAY

here are some songs!

yo la tengo are a great band, here is a song that i like very much; i wish it ended just a little bit sooner, but oh well. this song by preservation hall jazz band is a treat - apparently it's off some sort of benefit album featuring lots of special guests, and this particular song has andrew bird on it. which is good. we've heard quantic and his combo barbaro before - i don't have any idea what any of the words in this particular song mean, but it's nice to listen to, and i like the rhythm.

i used to like this neutral milk hotel song a whole lot - i haven't listened to it much in a few years, but it's a pretty good song. the horns are a nice touch. now, this song by some dudes called map of africa just showed up in my music library, i don't where it came from. it seems to just be the product of some dudes who found a pretty good few chords and nonsense words to jam on. it's actually surprisingly good. this radio citizen has a good feel to it - i have no idea what she's singing about, but the beat's nice.

this pattern is movement song is a cover of some other song that was famous a few years back, by some people i don't remember. anyway, it's got a really, really cool/weird feel to it, and is good to listen to while driving at night. bibio is a dude whose music i used to think was kind of boring, but i've been revisiting his music lately and as far as i can tell i must have never listened past the first five seconds of any of his songs, 'cause he has some really cool stuff going on. this song in particular is great, although it sort of devolves toward the end. this mouse on mars track is uncharacteristically orchestral. finally, this zero 7 song is just a very good thing to listen to, it's pretty straightforward.

about

every month, i'll put up a new mixtape on the right side of this inter net site, and some words having to do with that mixtape will run down the left side. some tapes will have more or fewer songs than others, and sometimes tapes will have themes. i hope that the one thing that they will all have in common will be that they are all made of good music, and that my mom and anyone else who cares to listen to them will find new music that they like by listening to these things.

which reminds me: this site is a birthday present for my mom. because, in the words of a wise otter, my mom should always get presents because she is my mom. for the technically inclined: this site is powered by php, duct tape, sheer force of concentration, and a modified version of opentape.

my name is jrheard.
